Many years ago I had experienced climbing vertical rocks out in the Capitan Mountains of Tinnie New Mexico. After doing my first top rope climb, I had to rappel down. Well, if you can imagine, as you stand on the edge of a three-story high cliff with rock ledges on the way down and a pile of jagged boulders waiting for you at the bottom, stepping off didn’t seem to be the right thing to do.

ATSG frequently receive calls from rebuilders who find the reverse clutch spring retainer snap ring popped out of its groove with RE5R05A transmissions causing reverse clutch failure (figure 1). This is due to several reasons; the snap ring groove in the case is shallow, the snap ring is thin and the spring return is quite stout (figure 2).

Any of you that have been with ATSG for a long time can remember back to the days when a Hurricane in the Miami area meant that ATSG would be closed for a while.  Those days are WAY over.  ATSG will be open before, during, and after most any kind of disaster you can imagine as long as the internet and national phone systems are still working.

Several years ago we moved into a new building here in Miami.  We own our space now and no one can boot us out of the office just because there is a warning.  Being an all poured concrete building, it will probably be where many of us stay during the storm as it is much stronger than our homes.  We also have a full service full time generator that will run the entire office.

Even if Maimi gets totally wiped out, our new phone system and back office tracking systems are available to ATSG people from anyplace.  Anyone can be set up for either inbound or outbound calls, or both.  As for the Miami folks, as soon as there is a roof to be under the Miami office will be back up and running.

The days of ATSG shutting down for bad weather are OVER!

Beckmann Technologies, Inc. is now able to provide unlocking services for 722.9 valve bodies and plates.  This means that historically useless transmissions, valve bodies, and TCUs can now be made serviceable again.  Although the preferred method of putting these parts back into service would be to use new electronic plates Mercedes continues to refuse the sale of these components outside their dealer network leaving our industry no other choice but to reuse the old ones.
